Simon & May's Procrastinatory Blog

These pages originally were supposed to chronicle in excruciating detail how our procrastination would lead to complete and utter disaster on our wedding day. Now, in the wake our of glorious and mostly uneventful union, these pages live on to chronicle our continuing procrastinatory adventures.

Holiday Hot Pot

Holiday Hot Pot! We had our traditional "food club" over for an old fashioned (holiday) hot pot with all the fixin's. Check out the rest of the gallery here!

Freezing cold

Temperatures plumetted today in San francisco. The funny thing is it is -21 in Ottawa now and we are going there next week. Who in the right mind goes here for 'vacation'?

For Thanksgiving dinner this year May tried out a new recipe for ribs which involved every spice, sauce, and/or ingredient she could find in the house. End result = crazy delicious.

Sutro Baths

Hard to imagine that back in the day there was a huge swiming pool here. This is my official "camera testing ground" as there's lots of interesting things to photograph and check out.

On The Side of the Road

(Posted by May): On the way to Sphere Designs (a furniture store), we spotted something that looked like a garage sale on a sidewalk just a few blocks from the store. We stopped our car to check out the stuff and it turned out to be a staging company that's going out of business and the owners were selling furniture and household items that were practically brand new for dirt cheap. We paid a total of $35 bucks for the following items:

- queen size bed cover w/ matching pillows in washed silk
- 3 large decorative pillows (similar pillows sell for $20-$30 bucks each at Crate & Barrel!)
- a cookbook
- a plate
- a gigantic table cloth that is so big, our dinning table w/ both leafs extended is too small for this table cloth!

They had tons of art work and wall mirrors and pillows and books and vases and towels and glassware and curtains. They were selling a solid wood table for $50 bucks! The stuff were nice too, some of them were from Crate & Barrel, West Elm... I only wished I was there for the past 4 consecutive weekends because apparently last weekend was their last sale, stuff that didn't sell were going to be donated.

Floral Arrangement

For some reason, I felt in love with horsetails after seeing an arrangement at a wedding ceremony that we crashed at the Intercontinental Hotel. I decided to try them out with roses. So I bought a bunch of horsetails, red roses and baby breath from the flowermart and played with them. No sure about the combination of red and green, looks a bit Christmasy, maybe I should try orange and green or white and green.

Update from Simon (04/06/09): Evidently this design crashed and burned. It was probably too tall, or too green, or too Christmassy, or maybe it smelled funny.

The Flower Market

Here we are at the flower market, checking out possible arrangements for the center pieces. I don't see why we can't just load up a van full of roses from Costco. More pictures here!

Further Testing

Well a whole month has passed and pretty much squat has been done. Still getting ready to launch this site with flourish and fanfare. Stay tuned. Of course nobody actually knows this site exists yet, so I'm just talking to myself.
