Simon & May's Procrastinatory Blog

These pages originally were supposed to chronicle in excruciating detail how our procrastination would lead to complete and utter disaster on our wedding day. Now, in the wake our of glorious and mostly uneventful union, these pages live on to chronicle our continuing procrastinatory adventures.

Holidays at Our House (2009)

Here's a little snapshot of what the holidays look like at our house. May's nephews and niece have a lot of fun when they come over. Clean-up is not as fun. Each one of those weapons has a different kind of nerf ammo.

R2-D2 Macro

Late 2009 I decided dabble in something referred to as "macro photography". It turned out to be just another avenue for annoying my wife, which shouldn't come as a surprise to most people.

Christmas 2009 - Geek Style

Here's how I spent my Christmas. These were all the range in Hong Kong. The gyroscope apparently helps with stability, making these little helicopters highly maneuverable. It turned out to be just another avenue for annoying my wife, which shouldn't come as a surprise to most people.

Getting Back to My Roots

The highlight of this trip was finding my grandpa's old village - and the house where my Dad was born. This rooster above has nothing to do with that.

Random Old People In China

Most of the old people in China are old despite lacking the health care we have here. Here are some random shots of a few of them before they chased me away.

An Ode to Xiaolongbao (The Soup Dumpling)

XLB: A soupy party in your mouth.
Day Three: Xiǎolóngbāo (aka "XLB" aka Shanghai Dumpling aka Soup Dumpling): Some of you might not realize this but we've have become XLB snobs, having traversed through the depths of San Francisco, braving Shanghai Dumpling King, Kingdom of Dumpling, Shanghai House, etc, etc. (NB: Out of towners, inquire now about reserving one of my SF Dumpling Tours for your next visit.)

Streets of Hong Kong

Nothing beats a 13+ hour flight than a brisk walk with the locals along Nathan road. This is the first in a series of postings from our trip to Asia in 2009. Click the "read more" link below to view each day in excruciating detail, captured for the world to see.

Obviously, we're too busy processing all those photos to have time for anything else in our lives.

We Took Over 3000 Pictures. 85% Of Them Look Like This.

The good news is we now have over 3000 pictures from our event. This is also the bad news, since we have 3000 pictures to review. At our current processing rate we should have them ready for viewing by January 2010. Please don't bother us until then.

Organized Chaos

While we're waiting, and waiting, and waiting for those pictures from our photographers, I thought it would be nice to share with everyone some of the secrets of our wedding planning, now that the grand event is over.

The above shot is from the actual interior of Pacific Printing Company on Clay Street in San Francisco Chiantown. These fine, completely professional and organized folks were able to make those fancy envelopes for the invitations and the programs at incredibly rock bottom prices. I highly recommend this place.

Lake Louise Tea House

Have any of you ever hiked the 3.2 km from the Chateau to the Tea House at Lake Louise? We did. It was great. And I am not even a tea drinker.

MISSION:ACCOMPLISHED

Wow. I don't know how to express the joy and happiness I'm feeling right now. And, if I did, it would ruin the whole sarcastic theme of this website and we can't have that. Stay tuned for pictures and more pictures from this incredible event.

Five Days to Go

I always wondered how many people actually read this blog. I'd imagine whoever does might be a little disappointed, since there hasn't really been any of the hyped-up drama we were promising six months ago. All you get is boring shots of fish, shrimp, and plants. I just spent a day working on programs and name tags, without much injury. Looks like this event is gonna happen.

One Week Count-Down Begins

Shrimp! We're running out of time. Those of you waiting for us to lose it will be rewarded for your patience. In the meantime, here's some shrimp we had for dinner the other day. MMmmm. Shrimp.

It's Not Easy Being Green

Thanks very much to everyone who sent in the thoughtful and detailed advice regarding the curious incident of the brown plants. It all makes sense to us now!

Would you wear this?

I am certainly no podiatrist but I think that these shoes should be mandatory for the bridesmaids to help relieve stress on the big day.

23 Days Remain: Guest Checklist

Ok folks, we're really down to the wire. 23 days, 6 hours, 31 minutes and 44 seconds until Judgement Day. Some of you are feeling that slight twinge of panic right now. Admit it. To help ensure everyone's on schedule, here is your 3-week countdown checklist.
  • Accommodations: I sure hope you got this figured out. Sorry, our couch is full.
  • New Suit (guys): It might have been awhile since you last attending a wedding which wasn't held in a barn. Empty out that piggy bank and go get yourself some nice threads.
  • Dress (girls): For almost everyone: We haven't attended the same wedding as you recently, which means YES, you can absolutely wear the same dress you've already worn 8 times this year. And we wouldn't even remember/care if we DID see you wear it before, either. I guess this applies to guys too, so go ahead and recycle.
  • Wedding Gift: We have everything we need. There is no registry. Read between the lines. (This doesn't mean show up empty handed, cheap-ass.)

Ottawa Banquet

We didn't hire a professional photographer for the Ottawa banquet, and it shows! Come check out a bunch of pictures of people you don't know hamming it up with us at the Yangtze restaurant in beautiful Ottawa Chinatown. The whole gallery can be viewed here.

Girls Gone Wild

On the way to our wedding reception/banquet/excuse to show off in Ottawa, we stopped by the "Experimental Farm" for some pictures with flowers. The Half-cow/human hybrid had gone home for the day, so we couldn't get any pictures with it/him.

Mama's Garden in Canada

Here's gardening done right - in Canada. Ottawa's received a record amount of rain this summer and the lush vegetation is the happy side-effect. No brown plants here!
